William T. Turner (1851-1881)

2nd Great Grandfather - Maternal Side

This will be a rather short post as I don't have much and he lived a very short life.

William T. Turner was born around 1851 in Tennessee. I am not sure how many siblings he had or who his parents were. The first solid clue that I found was in the 1880 U.S. Census after he married Jane Byers.

He and Jane had their first child, Rosa. I know that Jane was pregnant with William's son when he was killed in a train accident on October 16, 1881**. He was subsequently buried in Oddfellow's Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Together William and Jane had the following children:

  1. Rose Etta Turner (1877-1939); married John William Hutsen(pillier)
  2. John William Turner (1882-1974); married Adelaide McGee

Update:**The William Turner buried in Oddfellows Cemetery is  not our William Turner. I don't believe he was 1/2 Native American either. I am speculating that our William Turner did not die but ran off and started another family. My reason for the speculation is through DNA. I welcome any and all comments to truly discover our roots.
